End User can access entire data without any cube roles

Hi Experts,

I have a report model on top of a cube. I had set a role for an end user to view some specific data which was not working, i then deleted the role from the cube. The end user can still see the entire set of data. Have anyone faced this scenario. The security doesnt seem to work at all.

Please advise.

Regards

Neeraj

Hi Neeraj,

Do you have Kerberos authentication set up? If not, and if Analysis Services is not running on the Report Server, the Report Server is likely using a fixed ID (not the end-user ID) to access Analysis Services - you could confirm the ID by tracing the login to Analysis Services in SQL Profiler.

Encryption error processing cube with Visual Studio 2005 Analysis Services

Hi!

I am trying to process a cube in analysis services of visual studio
2005, with sql server 2005. The error is:

"Errors in the encryption library: Failed to encrypt sensitive data.
Possibly the encryption key is inaccessible because of improper service
account change."

Please, if anyone know how to solve this eror, please let me know...

We seem to have this problem as well. Any answers to this one? Our datawarehouse was well and running for 4 months now until this weekend when we got this problem. Havent solved this yet.|||

Hi Cristavo

I also experienced the same error when I tried to configure the datasource property of my OLAP database. In the Data Source Properties dialog box, I've set the connection string and leave the security settings to its default value "ImpersonateServiceAccount" and the errors shows up when clicking the OK.

Empty Measures

Hi,

I have a problem that confused me and I hope anybody can help me.

I have create a Data Warehouse on SQL Server 2005. Then I built a cube with Analysis Services and deployed them. There are no errors during the processing.
But when I start to browse, there are no data in my Measures. My dimensions are correct an have all data from the data warehouse but every measure are empty.
Maybe, is the number of dimensions restricted? I have 88 dimensions and 1 fact table.

I hope anybody understand my description and can help me.

The number of dimensions is not restricted, although 88 is quite a lot simply from the logical model perspective. You might want to look and see if some of these dimensions should really be combined into fewer dimensions. In Analysis Services 2005, it is best to model one dimension per logical business entity and simply include as many attributes and hierarchies as you are interested in using for that logical entity in that dimension. However, the number of dimensions is not the source of you problem.

Some things to check:

When you process the cube, does it report reading fact table rows?|||Hi Matt,

thanks a lot for your answer.

I have check everything you advise me but nothing helped. So I started to delete all relations in my Data Warehouse. Then I started with two dimensions and tested it. Then was everything o.k.
So I started to add each several dimension. At the end I found my mistake. It was a error based on a primary key which consist of two attributes.|||Thank you so much Matt for answering this question. I lost about a day of work trying to figure it out, but then I stumbled upon your answer. I had accidentally commented out the "CALCULATE;" in my calculated measures. Uncommenting it brought back all my measures.

Empty cube after date dimension added

In 2000, we could tell immediately whether there was data in the cube by running the SQL Statement that was used to process it. We could also troubleshoot join issues between dimension tables. In 2005 the process has changed. The cube update appears to be independent of the dimension update.

When I add a custom date dimension to my cube, all data within the cube disappears. My measures are empty, and I cannot get data back no matter what I slice and dice.

The SQL Statement used to process the cube returns records, however the cube browser is empty.

Has anyone else experienced this? How can we troubleshoot what data shows up in the cube, and if there is any data present?

Still looking for an answer on an easy way to troubleshoot missing data in the cube and relationships between dimensions & measure groups.

To resolve the problem above, I created a new dimension, and did not set it to a time dimension.
