Encrypting the Configuration Settings in SSIS package

Hello Everybody,

I have developed a SSIS package to pull data from a remote SQL Server.

I have specified Database related settings in a dtsconfig file.

I was just wondering if we have any way of encrypting the config file so that only my package can read information out of it.

Or is there any other better way where i can store my database configuration (uid, pwd) so that it is not viewed by anyone.

please help me with this issude, thanks in advance...

Regards,

Sudhir Kesharwani

SSIS will not store passwords in configurations files.

Look up the ProtectionLevel property. There are a few settings there that would interest you.

Enabling file growth

I am trying to keep my log file at unrestricted file growth, but every time
I save the settings it switches back to restricted growth with a default
file size. I tried to keep it restricted, and change the size llimit, but
it changed back to it'd default limit. Why is this changing automaically by
itself.
I want to keep file growth enabled at 5% with unrestricted growth, but it
keeps changing back to 5% and resticted file growth with a default size. I
don't understand why it changes!!!!ALTER DATABASE [database_name] MODIFY FILE ( NAME = 'file_name',
FILEGROWTH = 5%)
What do you get when you run the above statement with your
database_name and file_name changed?

Why do you want to grow the log at 5%? Log growth is something you
should try to avoid. My advice is to set it to a sufficient size so
that it won't grow.
If you need more help, please post the actual ALTER statements you
ran. Don't rely on the management tools to do it correctly for you.

Including CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements usually helps.

Enable Quoted Identifiers=0 System.Data.SqlClient.sqlConnection

Hi there,
this is probably a common question,
how can i include the "enabled Quoted Identifiers" settings in the
connection string of the sqlconnection.
on trawling through web pages i have identified
1 .that by default the quoted identifiers in SQL Server 2000 is by default
set to on
2. changing the status of quoted identifiers at the catalog level has no
affect at the connection level
since i have 1 global connection string
I would be grateful if anyone could help me in setting up this connection
stringHello,
As I know, you have to run SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER { ON | OFF } via
connection and there is no such option to set this option in connection
string to SQL server.
Also, if you use odbc DSN to connect to SQL Server, you have the option to
configure this option in SQL Server DSN.
